Prof. Dr. Rudolf Schlögl New Chairperson of the Scholarly Advisory Board of the Gerda Henkel Foundation

As of 1 January 2009, Prof. Dr. Rudolf Schlögl will become chairman of the scholarly advisory board of the Gerda Henkel Foundation.
As chairperson of this board, Schlögl succeeds Andreas Tönnesmann, professor of art and architectural history at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, who is stepping back after eight years of successful involvement on the board.
Since 1996, Professor Schlögl (born in 1955) has been professor of modern history at the University of Konstanz and is today one of the most outstanding researchers of early modernity. His interests include early modern rural society, piety, the church and social order, the development and secularization of pre-modern systems of knowledge and interpretation, domination and state formation in early modernity, aristocratic and court society, the political culture of the early modern city, social scientific theory formation as well as the field of communication and media. Since 2000 he has been the spokesperson of the DFG-sponsored cultural-scientific research program “Norm and Symbol: The Cultural Dimension of Social and Political Integration,” and since 2006, he has been spokesperson for the DFG Center of Excellence Cultural Foundations of Integration”—both at the University of Konstanz. Prof. Schlögl is managing editor of the book series “Historical Kulturwissenschaft” and the co-editor of the journal Geschichte und Gesellschaft. He has been a member of the scholarly advisory board of the Gerda Henkel Foundation since November 2002.
As of 1 January 2009, the scholarly advisory board of the Gerda Henkel Foundation is comprised of Prof. Dr. Rudolf Schlögl (Chair), Prof. Dr. Andreas Beyer, Prof. Dr. Willibald Steinmetz (Bielefeld) and Prof. Dr. Martin Zimmermann (Munich).
